Audience. That dreaded thing that every writer loves and hates. That invisible person that's sitting in the back of your head as you revise your draft. The answer to the primary writing question:

Who do you write for?

Oh Wesley, sometimes it feels that way.
It’s said the most successful way to write is to do so for an audience of one – yourself. Depending on what you’re writing, this can be very good advice.

When you begin looking to sell your writing, or to publish your work, you have to look beyond yourself to see who else the story/article/essay will appeal to.

Who would be considered the audience for your current work in progress?

When you are writer, you should know who is your audience. It is important because you would know to limit your restrictions and the things you must do in order for you to deliver your message really well. Knowing your audience will serve as your strength especially if you are still on the phase where you are knowing your target audience. But most importantly, you should still write from your write. You are the writer, that's why you have the overall control of your piece!
