This made me go hunting for a little piece I wrote to my son when he was still a little mushball that fit inside his dad's robe, snuggled down like his own personal Quato from Total Recall.
Welcome to the Show
I finally got to meet this person I had been waiting to arrive. Days go by, and I look at you with so much love in my heart that it wants to explode. You have become a part of me. My life wouldn’t be the same without you in it. There are times when the three of us are together, and your dad and I are playing with you, when I know what a perfect moment looks like.
You were laying on the floor today. You’re five months old now. You were flailing and beating on your belly as you are wont to do. Now that you’ve discovered the tom-tom sound your belly makes when you hit it, you can’t stop pounding out a rhythm.
I love you, son. You make our lives interesting. At the very least, you make them entertaining.
